first off, i just want to say eboostr cut off my start up time by 30+ seconds on my WIN XP 32bit! So this is how i did it using a class 6 SDHC card from transcend and the unmanaged memory since i have 4GB of ram.

    step 1: install eboostr 4
step 2: reformat sd card to NTFS. (may need to "optimize for performance" then NTFS format is available)
Optional step: go to options and choose applications that you think you will use most.
step 3: autoconfigure W/O selecting the ram! encryption does not seem to slow it down so i would suggest it. (Very important not to select ram! as this will pre-cache the programs and start up into Flash Drive first)
final step: autoconfigure again W/ selecting unmanaged memory.

Rationale for the sequence is that I actually got slower boot up when using the unmanaged memory only. I believe the reason is that during start up, the unmanaged memory needs to be replenished by eboostr and therefore takes more time to boot up. (appx 10+ seconds). I tried to simply autoconfig and load up unmanaged memory AND sd card at the same time, but i still got the same result of slower boot up. I finally got the success with only using SD card for cache in eboostr.

initial start up time w/o eboostr 107 sec.
eboostr w/ unmanaged memory 118 sec.
eboostr w/ unmanaged memory and sd card autoconfigured simultaneously 118 sec.
eboostr w/ sd card 77 sec.
eboostr w/ sd card configured first, then w/ unmanaged memory 74 sec.

With these figures, you are probably thinking why should i even bother with the unmanaged memory. the benefit of using the unmanaged memory is that the programs you use are "superfetched" or preloaded into memory so opening programs will be a snap! I noticed the initial opening of firefox and Itunes went from 6 seconds to less than 3 seconds.

RECAP: ram has the fastest access read speed of 900+mb/s but memory needs to be replenished from start up. high quality SD card has a slower access read speed of about 70+mb/s, but has the cache constantly stored and has way faster access time of 0.4ms. my hitachi 7200rpm HD only has access read of 20+mb/s as well as a slow access time of 18.9ms.

Let me know how it works for everyone else

Having a SD card in the computer reduce the battery life by an hour. So i only use the ram cache.
