If you want some free photo editing software, the Gimp works well. Photoshop Elements is probably about 80% of Photoshop CS and can be had on eBay in the $30-50 range on eBay. It is very good software especially if you are used to Photoshop.

I ran Knoppix on my notebook for fun and discovered GIMP as well. Weird name, but its a great editor, it looked a lot like Photoshop to me!

Hmm, I think I'd rather pay for Elements than use GIMP....but that's just me.

If you need something basic and don't want to pay, I'd recommend Picasa.

Yes! That is a great program - works really well, and is easy to use. The best part of Picasa is that it is free from Google. ;)
