The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. No problems so far with my SZ160. Lately when I start up and see the logon screen (XP) there is a message saying I have 1 unread e-mail message when there is nothing new in my outlook inbox. How can I get rid of this message?

Search your HD for either SCANOST.EXE or SCANPST.EXE (probably in \Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033) and run them. One or the other should clean out the problem.

If you've got a hotmail account it will also register an un-read hotmail message.

Thanks for the help. I changed the permissions for email notification using regedit as per miner's suggestion. I don't have a hotmail account and only one account is listed in the email folder in regedit. Ollyteddy, what do you mean by "tweak UI" ??
    Many Thanks
