    error upgrading to office 2007

    im trying to upgrade to office 2007 from 2003, but it says i should uninstall previous versions of office 2007, its referring to the beta which i uninstalled a long time ago. i have tried removing office 2003 but still nothing. what could be wrong?

    There are probably some registry entires that remain. CCleaner (or other program of choice) should help you out.

    i have run Registry mechanic but i still get the error. microsoft website says "This issue is caused by Office Web Components. The user must uninstall OWC and re-run the setup of Office 2007." where do i find the 'web components'

    try to go into "add/remove programs" and click on "windows components" and see if u can remove it from there

    I'm going to reply to this post again. I saw someone else had this issue and they resolved it. Turned out to be some obscure plugin that was around during the Office 2007 beta.

    Google around for uninstalling the office 2007 beta. You're going to have to dig into the registry and remove a bunch of stuff in order to get the retail version of 2007 working. It's a pain, as I had to do it on my desktop.

    i solved the problem! it was the compatibility pack that office 2003 uses to open office 2007 files. i removed it in add/remove programs and its running well now. thanks for all your help
