my esata used to work fine with the itouch. now it will not recognize it nor charge it. it still works with a regular memory stick. when i plug the itouch into a normal usb plug then it works. dell says it's a software problem but i would need to buy a 1 year software warranty for around $250. I don't necessarily want to re-install windows (which I guess would also handle it). Any ideas?

You can try uninstall the eSata device and let the system trying to re-install the driver and see.

ok, how do I do that?

Depending on what version of Windows you are using find Device Manager (Usually in Control; Panel - System) and in the list of devices find your eSata device and right click on it and select Delete or Uninstall. Restart your computer and Windows will find your Esata device and reinstall the drivers.
