    I'm so lost...
I downloaded an avi. file hoping that I would be able to make it into a dvd so I can watch it on my old Toshiba SD-2800 or 2900 dvd player. I downloaded a few different file converters to convert the avi to dvd or vcd. Then I used Nero to burn the file. Everything seemed okay until I tried playing the burnt dvd (dvd+r) on my Toshiba dvd player. It looked like it loaded okay, but once loaded, it gave the messge of "Not NTSC". The thing is... when the file was getting converted, the box of "NTSC" was checked. I had the option of using either "NTSC" or "PAL". I chose the NTSC option, but the dvd player keeps on saying that it's not NTSC. What did I do wrong and what needs to be done for me to be able to play the dvd correctly on my home dvd player.

What is a recommended file converter?

I would go to VideoHelp.com. There are all kinds of guides on how to covert various formats into DVDs.

Well, it could be the DVD. I have two DVD players: a Phillips and a Toshiba. Sometimes, one of my burnt DVD's works in the Toshiba but not the other, and sometimes vice versa.

What brand of DVD's are you using? Verbatim isn't very compatible. I'm using Sony DVD+R's (hey, they were on sale), haven't had any problems.
