for windows that are less than windows 7, such as windows 2000, are there any that has the function where if you close the lid and then open it back on, you are right back at where you were without hibernating, like the MacBook can?

If you're asking about Windows 2000 specifically, then I can't remember. But I know Windows XP can, so I'm guessing 2000 is capable as well. It's a very basic power management function.

It's called "sleep" and what Windows does by default when you close the lid.

but doesn't it take some time to get back where you are from sleeping?
When I got my MacBook in 2008 one thing I noticed and liked is that you could just open it and in a second you are right back in the screen, no waiting for a minute or so until the whole thing appears again.

it's the same with windows where in sleep is instantaneous (meaning within a minute) specially with an ssd.
there's also hibernate where it takes a bit longer but doesn't consume any power

Does that take a minute or is it instantaneous like Macbooks?
If you want the computer to do that how do you have to adjust the settings?

True, although Hibernation is essentially shutting down the computer. The only difference between Hibernate and Shut Down is that whatever is running is stored in memory, and then the system resumes from it's previous state when powered back on - as opposed to a cold boot (I'm saying this for OP's knowledge; I'm sure you knew that. :D)
