I did something and can't undo it. I was trying jto teach myself about the taskbar stuff and toolbar stuff.

Usually I could highlight something (maybe in email, etc )and a new window would appear, respectively. This new
window would be full size. Now, the new window is about the size of 1/3rd of the screen. I can't get it back to full screen size , unless I hit the maximum screen icon in
upper left. I just want to go back to being able to
hit the text and then go to the appropriate window (full size). Can u help me?

    I would be so grateful.

Say what? You you clicked on a link, and the link would open in a new window, which was maximized by default?

If that's what you mean, then try this. Right click on the programs' icon, and click on Properties. There would be an option titles Run, with a drop down list adjacent to it, select Maximized. Click ok. Now reload that application, and click on the link which you want to open, and check if the new window opens as maximized. I think, and hope, this works

If this is not what you're talking about, then please post more clearly, preferably with a screen shot or two, and maybe someone would help you out.

Silas, thx for u'r email and for trying to help me. your
re-statement is spot on. its hard to explaijn it because i'm so confused now.

this is embarassing--when u say 'right click programs' icon'...which program are u referring to? when i hit the link and see properties i'm brought to another screen w/only one tab called 'general' and no option 'run'.

pls stay w/me on this--if u can. I need to be able to get to that screen u'r referring to. I've seen it before. This is so frustrating and humbling....

Alright, which program are you having problem with? I mean which program are you using, which is not opening maximized, or when you click in a link in it, it's not opening a maximized window? Go to that program's shortcut (the icon which you double click when you have to use that program), right click on it, and click Properties.

This type of a window should now open -

    Select Maximized, and click ok.

Which Windows are you using, Windows XP, or Windows Vista, or some previous version, like Windows 98/ME?

While Silas's way will work, it is a bit "permanent" and is a one windows size fits all solution. That way, Internet explorer will always open full screen no matter what you do.

Instead there is an easier, more flexible and less permanent solution. Internet Explorer always remembers the size of the window when it was last closed. And any time it opens a new window, it uses that remembered size. To use this to fix your problem, close all instances of Internet Explorer. Open one new instance. Then size the window to the size you want it to use. (I prefer mine slightly smaller than full size.) Then close Internet explorer. I remember there was some issue with having to use either the close "X" box in the upper right hand corner or the menu "File" | "Exit" option for it to remember the window size, so you may have to experiment and try both ways. Open Internet explorer again and this time it should open with the remembered size preference. Close it again and try opening a link from an email, again it should use you're preferred size.

BTW it also remembers the window placement as well as the size.

Silas, went thru my Programs and to make change but no luck. If I could find the 'properties' option that goes with the link (appearing in my email.) then i could modify
that window. but i can't find it. U'v put me on the right track and i'm grateful. just can't find the program.

Where do you click (or double click) when you have to use Internet Explorer? Just right click that icon, and select Properties and do what I posted above. Why don't you try to find it in the Task Bar -

I wasn't referring to any specific program, I was referring to the program that YOU WANT TO OPEN MAXIMIZED EVERYTIME, WHICH YOU WERE HAVING TROUBLE WITH!

And there he is ladies and gentlemen *drumroll* (points towards Gary), always pissing on my parade!

    (J/k) :D How're you Gary? :)

I am doing fine now that I got rid of that extra beer in my bladder. Hey can I help it if my over indulgence, caused nature to call just as your parade happend to be going by??? ...big ol' grin...

Like I said your way works fine, it just limits the size options. I like my IE window to always open up a bit smaller than full screen so I can see my download meter app too.
