Video Lan should be able to play it or you can just download the dvix codec and play the avi file in WMP itself.

Is there something wrong with the media player that comes with your operating system?

Windows Media Player does not come installed with codecs for viewing encoded avi videos.

WRONG! CCCP is the only codec pack you should try. K-lite installs every codec ever, introducing conflicts all over the place. CCCP is actually intelligent and installs what works.

I'd go with FFDShow unless you find a really good reason to use something else. All other codecs are fairly pointless for decoding (now encoding is a completely different question).

I use FFDShow, so does CCCP. I don't use CCCP myself but it's easy to recommend as it also installs Haali's Media Splitter and VSFilter.

i've been using k-lite for god knows how long and i've never had a single problem with it :) nor have anyone else i know who use it.

i doubt cccp is intelligent i think its just the guys who compiled it put exactly what they needed to. :)

and cccp doesnt play some of the files i use so i'll be sticking with k-lite :)

    oh

and i dont watch anime either

"the CCCP was created to unify the filter packs provided by several groups into a single reliable pack capable of decoding anime from practically any group without breaking compatibility with anything else"

Winamp is by far the best free media player. Plays almost every file type.
