    Hi.

I have been looking for a free program, as i am totally unimpressed by vista defrag.

I have tried the ones in the free software section.

but this one is made by the company that make advanced windows care, that i have been using for years.

it`s called iobitsmartdefrag, it also sits on your task-bar and defrags automatically.

anyway give it a try if you want.

Theres also Auslogics defrag. Its free and its good. The vista defrag barely tells you anything. You wont even know when its done or what it's doing

Apparently they fixed vista the vista defrager on SP1.

    Hi.

I have tried Auslogics,it only seems to do a light defrag.

    The iobitsmartdefrag seems more intensive.

    regards

    John.

JK Defrag GUI. Freely available in the defrag section of my best free software for windows list. My personal favorite for being powerful and quick.

Diskeeper 2008 Pro is my defragmenter of choice, and works very nicely with Vista. Has a VSS-friendly defrag option too.

Calvin, I think you need to link a more up-to-date site. That one lists version 1.01

    The latest is v3.34.

    Here's JKDefrag's homepage: http://www.kessels.com/JkDefrag/

It's independent of it so it can have the latest version of it by just checking for a new version of jkDefrag.

Hey cool someone else here has found IOBit!
It was my defragger until I found the Software thread and switched to a combination of Auslogics and JKDefrag. I prefer them to IObit.
    JKDefrag-Once every month
    Auslogics-weekly tune up.

+1 for JKDefrag. I've tried many different defraggers and this one is the best one I've seen for free. For pay either perfect disk or o&o are pretty good I hear.

Well it was the first one I had after getting frustrated with the vista defragger and it was a speeding bullet compared to it. Since then I have moved on to the other two i mentioned. :D

For JkDefrag, I don't get that screensaver thing. o_O
What does that do along with the other non defrag apps.

The screensaver defrags while your computer is idle, so it's a "screensaver". You'll have to name the apps you want to know about instead of calling them "other non defrag apps".

Everytime your computer is idle. If I had that, it would run daily. Which leads to my next question. How often do you guys defrag? Daily, Weekly?
The other apps is the command one. I thought there was another one, but its just the screensaver app. and screensaver.
