masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
don't download music illegally.
google "ruckus" -
NBR does not allow any illegal activity. This includes pirated music. If you want to discuss free music sites (no rights reserved, etc), that's fine. If you want to discuss iTunes or other pay-per-song sites, that's fine. You cannot discuss ways to get copyrighted music for free. That will get this thread locked/deleted and infractions handed out.
Just a warning. -

ooo... dang sorry guys

if you go to college, many universities allow you to have free access to ruckus. or you can pay 10bucks a month for a service such as urge, or yahoo music unlimited. you can get as much music legally as you want, but as soon as you stop paying the monthly fee you lose it all.

ruckus seems pretty cool, thanks for sharing
but is the ruckus player absolutely necessary? -
well you need it do download the songs, but you can play the songs in windows media player if you like.

Check out emusic.com. If you sign up for a trial you get 25 free tracks. And you can cancel and keep your tracks. Legally. And it's mp3 so they play on iPods, Zunes, and whatever else. If you don't cancel then they bill monthly. It's like $10 a month for 40 tracks a month. They don't carry the major labels, so you have to be interested in a wide variety of music or stuff a little bit outside the current mainstream. They have indie rock, jazz, classical, electronic....

If you like live music, look at Archive.org. Especially http://www.archive.org/details/etree

i have a few questions about the files off of ruckus
such as
drm? and format? -
www.allofmp3.com
I've never actually used the site. But I know they recently went through a lawsuit but the court ruled in their favour. -
Could try buying the actual CDs.
Although I rarely do buy CDs, if I really like the artist, and I like more than half the songs, I think it's a good investment to actually buy the CDs, then RIP it to your computer.
Don't think it's illegal to RIP a CD to your computer if you actually bought the CD. -

what do you mean you loose it all ??? dont tell me they are trying to pull another sony >.<

p2p programs aren't illegal unless you illegally download files with them. The applications themselves are perfectly legal.
