    gadgets not loading :(

    I dont know what happened, but suddenly my gadgets are not loading on startup. i have to physically click rightclick>gadgets then all of them load by themselves.

    any idea how to fix this? i dont want to have to reformat again

    I remember reading long back about setting gadgets to load up through the Local Group Policy Editor... have you checked that? May be for some reason its turned off there???

    nope, its turned on. no idea why it still refuses to load automatically though

    And I guess its turned on even in "windows features"?? Otherwise, you wouldn't see it when you do the right click... but you can just check there.

    ok i found the problem. for some reason the max performance dell power plan disables gadgets. i have no idea why all the settings in other parts of windows says its on though :S

    Check power plan in control panel - advanced settings, on my asus there is an option to Hide Gadgets, you may have a similar setting. BTW good find!

    yea, it gives an error and all the options are greyed out. i had to switch to another power plan which i could edit. there is a thread about this i just noticed in the dell vostro/latitude/precision subforum

    Type Services.msc in the run and search for the service for the gadgets you set to automatically and there you go :p
