I got a new notebook today, and it has all this random trial software and other crap on it that I don't really want. To make sure I get rid of all of it, I kind of wanted to format my hard drive. However, I did not receive any reinstallation CDs with my computer, apparently because it has its own backup system built in. If I format it, would I lose this system? How would I go about reinstalling my OS if I do format? Is their a way to somehow create a reinstallation CD of my own just in case something happens to my Hard drive?
Thanks =]

Lets start with this, what notebook did you get? It is pretty standard to not get an OEM XP CD nowadays. Perhaps there is a way to burn off a set of recovery CD/DVDs. If you do format and a problem arises you'd at least be able to get back to the original state.
