i have an acer extensa 5220 which i upgraded from vista to WinXP sp2. i did this by changing the config in the bios from sata to ide. Now, when i change back i get a blue screen. Ii am sort of obliged to run in ide mode. is this because i lack the correct drivers.? where can i get them?

    thanks

. intel matrix storage manager - go to intel site
. follow the instructions to download and unpack it
. go to the setup folder and manually install the driver
. reboot, go to bios and set ur sata ahci

question: why bother back to sata ahci mode when u r running XP?

    cheers ...

my thought (possibly incorrect) was that sata drivers would unleash the full potential of the sata drive (150mb/sec) as opposed to the ide drive speed at 100mb/sec.

am i way out here and the ide drive setting is fine? i mean it seems ok to me. no drivers missing in device manager.
