hi, i was just wondering is there any programs which prevent windows xp to go on standby mode. i've set the notebook to go on standby after 15 minutes. but i left it on for hours and yet it's not going into standby. could it be msn messenger or winamp? no other programs run in the background.

    thanks

If Winamp is playing music, it obviously won't go into standby. I believe having open conversation windows in MSN will prevent standing by as well.

im dont think that messenger affects it.

Sometimes its some random thing that might be open that didn't close and keeps it on.

hi, I've just solved my going-stand-by problem which was described nearby on the forum.
Are you able to go suspend while no apps are running in the background?
If there is any application which prevents Windows going suspend, you can find out about it using one of those specialized process explorer programs (guess I can't post any links here, so just contact me if you are interested in obtaining such a software).
