    one more vote for utorrent..
I tried Azureus (did I spell that right?), bitTornado and utorrent...

azureus has user friendly interface but takes too much resource....
mine was using up like 50 mbs of memory...

bitTornado is alright but I think utorrent and azureus are easier to use

utorrent I loved the most because it didn't need to be installed, took up less resource than those two and also has user friendly interface :)

I used to use Shareaza. But many of the torrent sites or whatnot have banned it. So I use BitComet, gets the job done.

I can safely recommend uTorrent as the best bittorrent client. It's small, a single executable, uses almost negligible resources, and has all the features a casual bittorent user could ever want.

As for Limewire, I prefer Frostwire. It has no spyware/adware/malware/etc and has a nifty looking icon.

    Azereus or BitComet.

I use BitComet now because of the Anti-BT filter which blocks ISP's from knowing that you are using torrents.

utorrent (micro-torrent) is exactly as the name suggests. It uses a tiny amount of system resources yet has almost all the features you want. It is a great client. I wish that team would make uwindows...an entire OS using 10MB RAM *dreams*

Another vote for utorrent. Started out with the standard BT client and am amazed it ever got off the ground. Tried azureus but I have a huge bias against java client apps so it got un-installed in about 2 seconds. Got scared off by some spyware accusation with a few other torrent clients. Ended up with uTorrent which is amazingly well programmed.

I started with the first version of the original program by bram cohen, then I tried ABC which is great also and have just kept on trying new versions. Utorrent as others have said is the least demanding and the absolute best for windows users. Linux users I think should give azureus a go but utorrent is best for windows.

microTorrent seems to be a good (or uTorrent)....Its very lightweight and it has PE too [good for ISPs that block/limit p2p traffic]

    For those who use uTorrent,

When you go to download it, whats the difference between the 'standalone' (154kb) and the installation program (560kb)?

Any advantages or disadvantages of either?

I think it's normal when using torrent clients, 'cause the more you seed/leech, the less TCP connections left for other uses. I have several complaints in my Event Viewer everyday :D
uTorrent rocks anyway, lightweight and get the job done, just K.I.S.S principle ;)

i tried azureus, bitornado and utorrent. azureus took a while to load and consumed a lot more memory that the theo other two. bitornado is also great; the lightest amonst the three. utorrent doesn't even need to be installed! consumed a lot less resources than azureus (is not java based) just like bitornado and has a relly clean interface that is memory friendly. Plus it loads almost insantly.

Yeah utorrent is the best for sure.

There's no difference; the installation package will automatically create the program directory, if you just download the stand-alone you have do put it in a folder manually.

I used to use bitcomet the most but one website didn't recommend using it and said utorrent is best so ever since I used utorrent.
Bitlord doesn't work on some website as well.

azureus is best known torrent program but like others, I think the program is laggy and you don't need a big torrent program to download torrent.

    Azureus for dl speed.

I've tested dl'ing the same torrent with azureus and utorrent and utorrent doesn't come close to azureus. Not sure why and i'll test again because everyone seems to be raving about utorrent. But given speeds of 5-10kbs I can't see why anyone would want to use it.

If new results are comparable, then I'd go with uTorrent simply for the faster start-up time and low footprint.

I love uTorrent, it's so light. I am sad that there isn't a Linux edition, so I have been using Azareus again. Azareus has a great many features, but its so heavy and consumes mass memory.

Even now after acquisition by Bittorrent, uTorrent is still the unquestionably the best client for the basic user on Windows - combining all the necessary features into a program that barely takes any RAM whatsoever (unlike Azureus, which decided to go the complete opposite direction with Vuze for some inexplicable reason).

As for BitComet being the best for leechers, supposedly they fixed that no?
