Okay I had problems with xp, I'm not really gonna go into detail, pretty much I think I had a bad case of spyware, went into safe mode to use spybot, safe mode wouldn't boot and xp never worked again.
Now only have vista that worked in my laptop, I wanted XP to work again, so I put my recovery disk in for XP, to get it back. What I should have done was to ask you guys or call tech support to figure out what was wrong well, it's too late now, what's done is done.
Anyway now Vista doesn't work my boot manager, doesn't pop up to choose between XP and Vista. I'm assuming because because I had XP first when I put Vista and the way I did it, you have to have XP on first then put Vista on.
So is there anyway to get Vista to work without reinstalling it? I just don't want to reinstall all the programs again, and backing up my files.

Yes, dig around a bit on this forum there is one or two threads about this. If memory serves me, it involves using the Vista install disk to do a REPAIR, not a reinstall mind you just a repair. Specifically as you suggested it's a matter of restoring the boot manager, which the XP install just hosed up.

It is do-able without having to reinstall everything.

I've already tried putting in the disk in and booting from the disk and hit repair and restart that didn't work. I've also tried restoring the boot manager, by going to cmd and running bootsect -nt60 all and a couple other boot commands. Such as trying to having windows only boot from my D Drive where Vista is on, that didn't work either. Anyone know how to restore the boot manager and have Vista work?

I'm fairly certain that I tried what was in the Microsoft one already, I'll try both tomorrow after work. Thanks for the help, does anyone else have any other methods on how to solve my little problem?

Alright thank you so much it worked, but everytime I want one to work I have to uninstall or reinstall the vista bootloader. Is there anyway get it to work with out doing this?
