after I that latest updates for windows installed, i've been having alot of problems. First, rather than starting windows up right after boot up, it asks me to pick a profile, even though mine (Administrator) is the only one on the computer, and it doesn't ask for a profile. Then somebody recommends i go to start, run, and type "control userpasswords2" and uncheck the box that says "user must enter user name and password to use this computer". After that my computer beeps after I boot up, a window pops up saying "cannot logon to the computer. Make sure username and password are correct and then try again" and then I have to pick a profile just like before, I can't just boot up my computer and walk away. then after the first two times it does this I boot up, it goes to a blue windows screen that says "windows is starting up" and then just stays like that. It did it a second time and then the next time I booted up, I got the "cannot logon" message again. I recheck the box for ask for user name and password, and it goes back to having me pick a user profile, without enter username or password, again.
Any ideas what the heck is going on?

It sounds like you got the microcode processor update. MS released it with their latest batch of Windows updates. So why the idiots in Redmond released to everyone is beyond me.
However, even according to MS's own knowledgebase article, it should only be applied for very specific problems. The problem caused by the update may be worse on notebooks.

Stay away from MS updates. Besides service packs, if you know what you're doing on your computer, you have no need for the "crucial" updates they peddle.

That, IMHO, is not a good way to go.
Most MS updates/patches provide improved security and stability.
A better approach is to wait a week or so after the patches have been released to install them. If there are issues, they usually get reported pretty quickly.
have the latest windows updates screwed windows up?
