OK, so I set my laptop down, it went to screensaver, then I unplugged the power source and plugged it back into my room, and now...everything is grey. Some colors still work, but, for example, my AIM background which used to be bluish, is now totally grey. as are all the windows and boxes in this forum. The colors are completely screwed up. What can I do?
there are also noticeable horizontal lines across the screen
edit: it appears what might've happened is that when the screensaver kicked in, my nvidia settings got screwed up. playing with the gamma made the screen look better. is this a known issue?

Is this just on Windows 7?

Just a sidenote, why have screensavers at all? It's just a waste of battery or electiricty for your laptop.
-
I always thought they protected against dead pixels or something.
The colors are still kind of funky, and google suggest that this has happened to other people on vista. -
-
Sorry, yes, I'm on Windows 7, but I know that people have had this issue with Vista
-
I screenshotted what the problem is:
as you can see, no matter what I change colors to, that same greyish/blue color shows up everywhere. It is also the color of my taskbar, as shown.
What could the problem be? -
hmm.... that is odd. Humor me and try to greyscale the windows, then put it back? Messing with small things like that can sometimes work for me. I fiddle with everything, thats how i learned much of what i do through windows. another restart might help as well, just don't unplug it.
keep it off for a few minutes -
Eh... you've tried restarting, right?
-
tried restarting, system restore. etc.
melina, you were right about it at least being partially something small. changing the windows 7 'theme' and changing it back seemed to get rid of the dull color problem. i still have to change my nvidia settings to get the colors to look alright, ever since the theme screwed up, the default nvidia settings are unusable.
thanks for your help, i know it was a weird problem and hard to describe -
Er, Aero turned off?
-
You got knocked out of Aero (Desktop Composition). Try re-running the Experience Index (Start-> Right-click 'Computer', 'Properties', 'Windows Experience Index' and update score). As long as the graphics drivers are working, it should run that and flip back to Aero.
help! everything looks grey :(
