I asked for help with this a week or so ago, and none of the solutions offered worked so I'm trying again. I don't know why my address bar is all of the sudden doing this out of nowhere, but it is driving me insane! Every folder I access in windows explorer is displayed in the address bar of internet explorer, and they push the internet addresses that I ACTUALLY WANT in there out. These are folders I store music in, both on the C:\ drive and external hdds. I'm accessing these folders from the file\open menu of foobar2000 and winamp, not through the explorer bar. There are a bunch of these such as J:\Music\Primus\Pork Soda and every other album I've listened to showing up there. I've found people in other forums complaining of the same problem, but there is never a working solution offered. Why anyone would want these folders displayed in his address bar is total nosense to me. Any help here would be appreciated, but if you're going to tell me to switch OS or browsers don't bother.

Try this. Open the View tab, and uncheck the Address Bar within the symbol list. This is a bit radical.

    cheers ...

I don't think you understood what I'm asking. I need to keep the windows explorer folder history out of my IE address bar.

My bad. Reviewing your post again, the issue occurred when you accessed the folders/files with Foobar and Winamp.

. Would this happen if you access the music via Windows Explorer itself?

    cheers ...

if I go to the folder and click and drag the files into the music player it doesn't happen. If I use the "file/open" within the player, it records it to the address bar. This is confusing, because it didn't happen until recently and I haven't had any updates that would cause it.

May be this could a long shot.

How about uninstalling (cleanly) Foobar2000 and WinAmp from your comp. I recommend run cCleaner to clean the registry afterward (backing it up first as always).

Then re-install them one by one, test again and see. I could only think that somehow, during a change in the players settings somewhere, unaware to you, that triggers some sort of registry changes.

    cheers ...

Hey I've got an idea - let's use common sense and read the OP's post before replying. I don't think you need to have an inherently vast attention span to adhere to the concept.
