Is that not a bit aggressive? I would just take the copper out. My thinking is that you somehow with this copper, "raise" the gap between the GPU and the heat sink.

Hopefully that the GPU is "recoverable"

    cheers ...

At this moment it is hard to say. How about just take the ram modules and drive out. Let them sit for a few minutes and reassemble them nicely? Check all your screws again as well.

    cheers ...

You shouldnt use a copper shim unless your GPU uses a thermal pad. If it uses paste then use paste. You put too much pressure on the GPU die.

Change the paste every 6 or so months, the same time you clean out the fans.

My guess is you corrupted windows.

Do you have any linux live cds?

    Actually L1GHT GAM3R

It does sound like the gpu... Sorry to say, but yes safe mode will almost always still boot even with a dead card... That said.. Why not take the ultimate risk and cook it back to life !!! As long as you didn't fry the ram it's worth a shot... if you have any questions about how just ask here... You'll get through this it'll be ok :)

If you mean you stuck a copper plate flush between the heatsink and the GPU, the copper would have expanded as it heated up and crushed your graphics chip.

You can test for hardware failure by booting from a LiveCD. If it turns out to be that, then it sucks, but at least there is no data loss.

    I'm sorry to say this...

But with your last comment it definitly sounds like a gpu crash... As I mentioned I'd be happy to walk you through baking it... if you'd like to give it a shot... There is really nothing to lose if the card is already fubared... Anyways either way good luck my friend :)

Do a clean install of windows to completely rule out a software issue. If it still occurs after then its the probably the hardware.

Are you sure that was the actual stop code? It's got 9 digits after the "0x" which is incorrect, it should have 8 digits. Also, a standard MS BSOD error code should have four hexadecimal numbers in the parentheses following the stop code, and those should also each have 8 digits after the "0x". On the other hand, if you're running 64-bit _Vista, then they should have 16 digits after the "0x".

EDIT: After a little googling, it looks like this sort of error can be caused by a corrupt driver, or by hardware problems (incl. bad RAM or a failing GPU), so, unfortunately, that won't allow you to decide between hardware failure and software failure.

At this stage, re-install first and panic afterward.

    cheers ...
