i booted up windows with a.. external harddrive with windows on it... once. and now everytime i boot up it gives me a screen asking which os i want to load.. is there a way to get rid of that?

Yes!
Start-Run-type "MSCONFIG"-select tab "BOOT.INI"-click on "Check All Boot Paths" and your problem should be solved. -

wel its what you said, but you're not on vista?! probably.. its just msconfig, "boot" tab, then itll give you a list of the os that you get to choose from, one of them says current os;default os.. the other one wont..
just click on the one that doesnt and hit delete!
