Iam looking for somthing simple to crop my wallpapers, so that they will look normal on my widescreen laptop.

At the moment alli can do is strech the to fit the screen but it looks unnatural.

I know i will lose some of the image but that cannot be helped.

I don't know any programs that do that but here are a few suggestions

    1) pick a wallpaper thats 4:3, but where its the right width value, instead of height
    2) you may have an easier time finding widescreen wallpapers, something like interfacelift.com has a strong solid collection

    Hi.

I have quite a few pictures i would like to convert if possible.

    I need to convert 1280x1024 to 1280x800.

So i need a image software where i can load up my original picture and then select only 1280x800 of the picture with an movable box??.

    thanks.

    John.

GIMP will do it very well, and it is free.

I just take an image or desktop I want, convert it to an oversized image (if necessary) and then I cut the image down. I personally use Photoshop CS2, but GIMP is a nice free variant of the program.

I went a slightly different route (had noticed the same issue) and use the wallpaper changer powertoy, which 1) allows me to change my wallpaper from a list of selected wallpapers, and 2) makes the image fit (although it adds black borders rather than cropping the top and bottom) which is good because I use both landscape and portrait pictures.
