Man, lots of problems with my new W3V.

    1. I couldn't load up Azureus because it says that I need to download Java. But I already have Java. So I tried downloading a new one, but it says that I need to uninstall the old one first. The problem is whenever I tried uninstalling, it says I need to uninstall the old version. I mean WTF? They're telling me to uninstall a program I'm trying to uninstall.

    2. I don't know if it's a hardware problem or a software. After installing a new ram, the laptop seems to take a long forever to boot. But it seems that everytime I run TuneXP's Ultra-fast booting, it boots fast. But if I don't, it's back to slow. How can I fix this?

    3. I tried installing ATI Catalyst control center, but it wasn't able to load up. It says cli.exe, aplication fails to initialize properly. Reinstalling doesn't work. Help?

    4. I tried system restore to restore some settings. Now usually when I do system restores, the files in my documents stays untouched. But this time, some files were gone, and files that i've deleted came back. is there some kind of settings I need to configure, because I can;t find it.

    Thanks alot.

Why don't you just do a clean install? If you rather not, then get rid of all the bloatware. Check msconfig for startup items - there should not be more than 4-5. Try uninstalling the Java under SafeMode - thus you can be sure it's not running somewhere in the background.
The problem with the Catalyst, however, will definately make me reinstall Windows. Even if you manage to fix it, it will be a stain on your OS.
Turn off System Restore - it is slowing down your computer and is not really helpful. At least I think so.

i've already done a clean XP install. Lots of problems just start coming up after that. With regards to booting up, I cannot see how it has anything to do with the bloatware since, it was after a fresh install, I have barely anything in startup other than the neccessary stuff. It only happened after I ran the TuneXP tweak. And I don't know how to revert it back other than to run the tweak everytime I wanna restart the laptop.

I tried uninstalling Java in save mode, but it says that windows installer cannot run in safe mode.

About the boot up process, it isn't like the usual where you have a lot of **** in it. It got stuck in the welcome page for about 30 seconds, then went on to the wallpaper and got stuck there for about 2 minutes. Unlike usual where the hard disk goes crazy, it became quiet Until about 2 minutes, it starts moving, and everything loads up as it's supposed to be. I feel really helpless here. Can't search any info about this.

I tried uninstalling Java from the registry, but doesn't work. It's still in the add/remove programs, but the remove button is gone now.

After much testing, it seems that the boot up problem happens in random. But whenever it boots up quick Firefox sometimes doesn't even load. What the hell is wrong here?

It seems that after my last XP reinstall, the system has been really unstable. So as a last attempt, I've decided to reinstall it.... again. **** I wished I hadn't transfered all my files and installed my programs.

when installing windows, it's better to format the drive first and then install windows. usually it is more stable then repair, or upgrade option. before do that, i copy my document to another drive and after installing widows i copy all the files back to the newly created my documents.

I agree with the Format the drive completley for reinstall. Uninstall Java - Safe Mode was a good suggestion If that does not work not try re-installing the exsting version and then try deinstall again.

Slow boot up might be trying to access Domain or some Network Resource (printer , network drive ?? ) that is only available sometimes ?

Go to safe mode and enable boot log - might offer some help there.

    Good Luck.............dy

Finally, got those problems away after reformatting. But new problems arises.

    1. Logitech Setpoint program always override the Windows mouse properties everytime after startup. I managed to got it to work before reformatting, but this time, everything I do won't work. I tried the clean install as suggested in the Logitech website, didn't work (it did work before in my old laptop). I need the program or the back forward buttons wouldn't work in Firefox.

    2. This has always been a problem. Everytime the computer startup, the bluetooth is always off. Is there anyway to make it switch on automatically? There's no option whatsoever other than manually switching it on.

    3. I couldn't install Asian languages. It says that I need to put the XP CD, but everytime I do that, they couldn't find the file. I initially could install it automatically before reformatting. It seems that they didn't but the files in the hard disk this time around. There was never such an option.

    Thanks again.
