I jus got my laptop three days ago....unfortunately for me it came with vista...now i want to install xp but the Hard drive is SATA...now i know i need to slipstream the SATA drivers to xp sp2 cd ...so i installed nlite...put my xp sp2(OEM) cd in and then selected the driver to be integrated...burn the image...and then tried to install xp...but still it said that it couldnt detect a mass storage...now i downloaded the drivers from the fujitsu website more specifically this

SATA RAID (on board) [VT6421A] (this is for the xp version)

VIA VT6421 RAID Controller driver and VIA RAID Config Utility
    Version: 5.1.2600.530 530C
    date: 31.03.2006

    unzipped it

and went here \VIA_RAID_V530C\VIAStor\driver\Raid\winxp and selected the 'VIAMRAID' setup file

i just want to know if anyone has done this before/ knows what im doing wrong (am i selecting the wrong driver file when i unzip or anything else i could be doing wrong)

help would be appreciated greatly thanks

My e1705 has a SATA drive and I've never had problems installing XP. I never had to slipstream any drivers at all. Have you tried installing from your original XP disk?

i have bought HP dv6291ea with vista.
i dont know about ur situation but i did the following:

first u have to do is go to BIOS setup at the start by F10 (in my case). then there Disable the SATA Native Support, so XP / 2000 / win9X can recognize the drive.

    and then install XP.

I installed it A-OK and XP ran ok on my machine but my Vista disapeared. But i want to have both OS at the same time. uptill now i have figured out the boot manager of vista bcdedit.exe in vista. which controls the booting process. then i will install vista + XP at the same machine. i hope ... :)

I also have HP dv6291ea. I have downgraded it to XP but I cannot find drivers for Wifi, LAN, Display or anything else for XP for this machine.

How did you find drivers for it? Drivers for this model are not available in XP.

Please help. I am all lost.

If there are no drivers available, you can't run XP. If HP doesn't have them, and you can't find any manufacturer's drivers, then you are out of luck.

Oh, you can run XP, but your devices won't function. There is no way around it - you need drivers for those devices to function. If HP doesn't provide XP drivers, ask them if they plan on releasing drivers.

Oh, and as for Photoshop CS3 - what's the problem? It is compatible with Vista Home Premium, Ultimate, or Enterprise (32 bit), according to the website. If you have x64, you should check this out: http://blogs.msdn.com/rickbrew/arch...talling-adobe-photoshop-cs3-on-vista-x64.aspx

The same goes for Flash CS3.

Hi, I have the same problem here, I have downgraded my NB to XP, but there are no drivers, and devices are not functioning !

I should include that I have seen the same notebook having XP and all devices functioning.

In HP website, it said that there is no XP driver for HP dv6291ea and it suggested to use Windows update to get compatible drivers!

But in my case, it is impossible, because I access internet via dial-up, and since it hasn't a driver for modem, i cannot connect using my NB.

Anybody can help me PLZ ? Find me compatible drivers ?
I would appreciate it in advance.

it might be too late but you really shouldnt have to slipstream any drivers... the drivers you loaded are for sata RAID... thats an advance configuration using multiple hard drives... the only thing you have to do is enable sata in the bios which was already done since vista is running without it...
