Use a download manager, then you can resume* a download even if something goes wrong in the middle. I use Flashget, there are plenty of other free download managers out there.

    * provided that the site support resume support, most sites do.

Yeah, like "Free Download Manager" :p

Another way around it is to switch to another browser. :O

Might be either your internet connection lagging, or the server does.

I would Recommend using JDownloader , as its fast , free and Portable also it can download from 1-click filehosters (Rapidshare,Megaupload .. ) even without premium accounts

    Link : http://www.jdownloader.org/

Note : Jdownloader Requires Latest JRE to be installed :D as this Java based you can even port it to a Linux System :D

But if you want a best free rounder which can download anything you throw @ it then i would recommend Orbit Download Manger .

also you try increasing the limit imposed by IE to download multiple files [IMG]

Unless there's something wonky with your system, that's almost certainly the result of the server being overloaded (which makes sense since it sounds like you're downloading something popular).

Generally, when I get a timeout or some other download error, XP will frequently pick up where it left off; however, I have no idea how reliable that is, so you're probably best off going with a third-party downloader that has the express capability of picking up with a download after a timeout or other error.
