you can put 2 DIMMs in any notebook regaurdless of whether or not it is single core or dual core. You need a 64 bit operating system in order for your system to use a full 4gb of ram.

stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
take out the processor. throw it at a wall. if it breaks into two equally sized halves, then it is 2 core. if it stays in tact, then it is a single core.
-
how are you gonna put "2 things of ram in" the duo processor?
-
Not every notebook has two RAM slots, for an example the Sony TZ series has only one.
christianbran, tell us what kind of computer you have and we'll let you know the maximum amount of RAM it can take, and what to buy. -
What's the name of your processor?
-
i just figured the op already has purchased the "2 things of ram" and was just making sure his/her notebook can handle/use them.
-
you're also gonna have to reinforce your ram and processor to handle the weight of the hammer. lol.
-
its a dv6646us
-
it should have two RAM slots on the bottom
Having a dual core processor has nothing to do with being able to put more RAM into your laptop
but if your curious, if your processor is the AMD Turion X2, then the X2 would denote dual core. -
You have TL-58, Dual Core AMD @1.9Ghz 2X512MB L2. It can handle up to 4GB RAM.
-
run a utility such as SiSoftSandra and it will tell u
-
you should also see 2 processors in device manager if it was duo

It wasn't intentional
kthxbye -
Why not just check the task manager?
Right click your system tray, select task manager (or Ctrl+Alt+Delete>>Task Manager)
Then, go to the Performance tab.
See how many graphs for cores there are.
EDIT: This is how you can check for cores, but it won't matter for adding RAM.
how can i figgure out if my procceser is a duo
