It's very possible to remove IE from you computer.
Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Add or Remove Windows Components, uncheck Internet Explorer and click next.
Done. -
IE is an integral part of Windows, explorer uses the same engine so it can never be fully removed. -
@Crimson Roses
Not completely though
I have 6.
FireFox
Opera
Flock
IE
Chrome

No one has answered my question... what is the reason for so many browsers?
The most I've ever had was 2 (again, plus IE). And that was just because I was using two accounts on the same website and I could not be logged into both unless I was on two different browsers. -
Firefox only - though it doesn't remember my passwords any more, is a memory hog and starts up with a HTTP Error 400 - Bad Request everytime.
And the title can be edited in the first 10 mins or so. Try clicking on the folder image, etc near the thread title. -
Anyways:
Windows:
Firefox
Chrome
IE
Linux:
Switweasel 3(optimized firefox code) -
Oh believe me... I use IETab. But I have no choice but to have IE installed anyway, regardless of usage. -
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
I9100:
Mozilla Minefield
Chrome
IE8 Beta 2
EEE 901:
Opera 9.62
Firefox 3.04 (slow and writes too much to the ssd)
IE8 Beta 2 -
ie7, ff, chrome
-
I've been using IE7 and FireFox for quite a while - recently I went to Opera 9.62 - seems generally Ok and fast to me.
Reasons for different browsers:
Compatebility & Stability as well as speed.
Last I checked timesonline doesn't render 100% correctly in Opera - you need another browser for that... also: downloading files is bettern in IE7 than Firefox for me, for example. -
Why I use many Browsers ?
FF 3.0.4 = Normal Browsing
IE 8 B2 = Intranet Sites and many online ticket booking sites
Opera = Po** ( You Know what I mean rightreason ? i can switch off images just like that
)
Chrome = Gmail , YouTube and all other google related stuffs -

I have the following:
IE 7 > For Win updates
Opera > My browser of choice!
FF > For those instances when Opera faces incompatibilities
Chrome > Primarily for Google Docs
Safari > Was trying it out, never got to uninstalling it - though I should!
Cheers! -
Chrome and IE (by default)
-
FF and IE....
Cin -
Opera * The Main * , Firfox , IE just installed with the windows dont use it atall
-
I have 4: IE7, Safari, Opera & Chrome. The reason? IE7 doesn't work well with CNET TV.. unable to choose the featured video. Some of the browsers doesn't render web sites properly but is improving. 90% of the time I use IE7. Chrome & Safari are faster in loading while Opera is catching up in speed. FF is getting too bloated. I use browsers to browse and the simplier the better. Am getting used to Chrome... fast and a very simple interface and it took some features from Safari and Opera.

I have three installed right now:
- IE7 - only because it cannot be deleted
- Opera - I am not really sure why I still have this installed
- Firefox - because I like it and it works
-
(2) IE and FF
Tried these but deleted them right away. Chrome and Opera. -
IE, FF, Chrome
Mostly using Chrome. -
I've got IE7 and Firefox.
Use both heavily. -
IE and Chrome.
-
I've got IE n FF
IE- for MSN Hotmail/most of the time IE7 crashes, dont know the reason, so i
use FF heavily.
IE works fine is on msn n hotmail n MS sites. if i open other sites, IE crashes n closes. till now i have no idea why it crashes -
i have IE and FF, but only use FF, IE is there for anyone else that uses my laptop, i don't want them using firefox with all my stored passwords and whatnot.
-
Depends on how you count. I cut my browser types down to 2 - Opera and IE. I wasn't really using Firefox anymore, so there wasn't much point in having it - though I probably will at least download 2.0.0.18 when it's released (I have a CD that's becoming an OldVersion.com of web browsers, particularly Opera).
But I've got three installs of Opera - 9.27, 9.52, and 9.62. 9.62 is my primary; 9.52 is because I've got a site on auto-sign in there and I don't remember the password so I can't sign in on 9.62 until I password-request, and 9.27 for compatibility.
So either 5 or 2. -
I only have IE and Firefox. I've been using Firefox for the last five years now and I have no desire to use anything else. Sometimes you just need to use IE for somethings though.
-
This would be more effective with a poll, but anyways...
I currently have 4 browsers installed:
IE: because I have no choice
Firefox: use it all the time
Opera: tried it out and never uninstalled it
Chrome: use it every now and then, but like firefox better for now -
Firefox and IE, don't use IE at all, been using firefox for years now.
-
Firefox and I.E.
Hell man, I have one browser, and that's Firefox.
I.E. doesn't count.
I used Chrome, tried to get myself to use it, but I just couldn't. It's really fast and small/light, but I need AdBlock. Funny thing is I never used it, I really don't know why. About a month ago I finally got it and used it- without realizing how good it is. Trying Chrome man opened my eyes, there were ads everywhere! I mean, it seriously is crazy how good Adblock is, what's even worse is that I went like four years without it and even worse than that is I didn't realize how good it was till I ran Chrome!
I know about that privoxy or whatever proxy thing for Chrome, but I am not running all my data through a proxy and slowing things done when I can just use FF. Besides, Chrome doesn't maximize completely.
Basically, it's like comparing a BMW M3 to one of those Lotus cars. The Lotus is going to be faster, but the M3 is fast and way more comfortable. If that makes any sense.
So I uninstalled Chrome, I don't like having extra programs installed.....
I would try Opera, but well, FF is too good. -
That's weird, I rarely had any ad popups with Chrome. It's essentially a basic browser without add-ons to make it look 'pretty'. My motto is the simpler the better. The new Opera is just as fast too.
-
I didn't say popups, just ads.
Turns out this site has many ads, even had one you had to click on before it let you into the site itself...... stuff like that. -
I use Chrome when I have to do my assignments online, because it looks cleaner,
I use Fire Fox for the rest of the crap and fun,
As for IE, I don't touch it, but I keep shortcuts for the occasional guests.
So, 3. -
IE: Stuck like glue to my laptop
Firefox: Default browser, has all my bookmarks/add-ons
Chrome: downloaded last night, liking it so far. Might just use it as a switch-between browser for when I listen to music/browse quest websites while playing WoW. FF uses 200k memory when I do that -
FireFox ... My favorite and default browser.
Safari & Chrome ... Just to test & play around with.
I.E ... You need this to download other browsers after Windows install. It's also good for syncing bookmarks to my Windows Mobile phone.
Opera ... Every time a new version of Opera comes out people praise it so highly that I end up installing it just to see for myself. So far not really impressed, but Opera does have great speed.
Netscape ... Basically it's now a FireFox clone. It's pretty good too. Very fast. You can use FireFox Add-ons with it. The downside is that too many Add-ons don't work properly with it. -
I use Opera (Main), FF (Secondary main..), and IE7 when opera or FF fails.
-
Only Firefox (very rarely IE)
-
All you Chrome users don't realize that EACH tab uses additional RAM.
It by far isn't the lightest, but on purpose.
Open a couple tabs in Chrome, then open Task Manager, find ALL the chrome.exe's and add up the ram usage.
Chrome has MULTIPLE processes in Task Manager, but again, on purpose. -
ie and firefox.i keep ie just because messenger opens it when i click to view my mail
-
I have 4 including IE.
- Firefox - I use it.
- Safari - Leave Shortcuts for others to use.
- Chrome - Sometimes use it.
- IE6 - Never use it.

IE. What my brother uses.
FF. What I use [most of the time].
Chrome. Waiting for it to get less buggy.
Safari. Downloaded itself when I updated iTunes. -
Yeah, I'm waiting for an "official" release of Chrome before I reinstall it.
-
I do have to agree with much of the claims about Chrome. It's fast and, while not as light as people claim, it is lighter than FF. And faster. Did I mention it's fast?
I also like Incognito mode -- this is the main reason I use Chrome sometimes. -
Chrome isn't in Beta anymore. It's a full blown browser. NBR has an adware for Dell discounts when opened.
-
-
I installed Chrome again. Couldn't keep it off... lol. It's fast man.
I guess it doesn't hurt to have another browser. When they implement add-ons and if they allow us to customize it more and fix the bloody MAXIMIZE button that does NOT fully maximize, they really might have a winner on their hands.
When minefield goes gold we could be in for some good fun... hehehe. -
Home
IE7 - compatible with everything, low mem. usage, loads fast
Chrome (Primary now) - Love the layout / features, fast. Do struggle with some compatibility issues so I switch to IE7 when needed
Work
IE6 - Default at work (hate it!! no tabs?)
Chrome - Same as above, was able to download it around security.
IE 8 Beta 2 - Meh, need it for some compatibility issues at work w/ vendors, better than IE6 because it has tabs.
FF3 - Early on got this because I needed tabs and Chrome was blocked initially. Now never use it because FF is sh*t.
tis all.
how many web browers do you have??
