everything on my labtop is much bigger then it used to be. the icons on the desktop are bigger, the start menu is bigger and any program i open is bigger. i just changed my labtop screen and i was wondering if that had anything to do with the change and if there is a way to change my settings back.

i dont know what i had before. but when i changed the screen i left all the connectors in place on the notebook itself. and just unhooked them from the old screeen to the new one. maybe that has something to do with it. do i need to change the connectors also. i really can't see why there is no way to fix this problem.

Is that the max resolution you are able to slide to? If possible try increasing the resolution.

change the icon size to small....
also, try this...change all settings/resolutions to the lowest possible, reboot, and then change them to the highest...

If you right-click the Taskbar, is there an option to "use small icons", and is it checked?

Wait a minute... it's a new screen? Is it a direct replacement, or a different model screen? If you bought a replacement screen with a lower resolution than your old one, things would look bigger.

i ordered it from dell. told them the model of my notebook and left the rest up to them. wouldnt they give me the same screen. and everything is smaller now besides the icons on the desktop and the start menu. at first evrything was extremely large but after playng around i fixed that problem. also i noticed that i have no options when i click log off to either logg off or switch user it just automatically turns off my computer.a nd also if im noton my computer for an hour or more it shuts down even tho the power options say not too.

im not sure if this is possible but it seams my notebook thinks it is a regular computer. it no longer has any hybernate or standby options under the power options tab in the control panel. and when i click on shut down it only gives me the options to shut down or restart the otpions to hybernate or standby are grayed out.? i dont get it is there any way to reinstal windows. i no with my old computer i was able to reinstal windows using 2 different system disks. but i didnt recieve any with this notebook. i dint know what to do i find something new wrong everyday.

Make sure your power option are enabled in the BIOS first - look for ADPM or somethign like that. Then, make sure you have all the drivers for the Notebook from Dell installed.

If you really want to re-install Windows, boot off the Dell Setup CD that came with the notebook (or the Windows CD).

I hope you got a really good deal on it, then... is there a Windows sticker on the bottom of the notebook w/ a serial number?

Some manufaturers that include legit copies of Windows but not CDs have a CD image on the harddisk that can be burned to CD. Poke around the HD and see if there are any directories that look like they may hold an image. Dell should be able to tell you how to do it...
