    Are you referring to Windows 7? or what OS...

    Either way it will ask you when you boot with the disk

    it should offer 2 choices

    start with a clean install and format everything

    install and keep all old files in a folder on your desktop

    for me it gave both options when i upgraded to vista so i imagine it will be similar ....

    Google for "vista upgrade clean install" - you'll find plenty of sites that explain how to do it. Substitute "Windows 7" for "Vista" and you'll get the idea.
