pls guys i need help. i recently bought a lenovo ideapad y500 with 16gb ssd and 1tb hdd. well something happened so i decided to install a new windows 8. i read from some forums that i had to convert the disks which was in gpt partition to NFTS before i can install a new windows which i did using diskpart in command prompt. but i made a mistake instead of installing the windows on the hdd i installed it on the ssd which i read it was for caching. now i am trying to install a new copy on the hdd. so my question is how do i make the ssd do the caching or how do i make it become the cache disk like before.
pls help i am totally confuse

Just a question here: Did that SSD show up as drive C: when you installed windows 8? Everybody knows that OS goes on Drive C so if that was the case we can't blame you for that mistake.

You'll have better luck asking this question in the Lenovo forum. That 16GB partition is a Lenovo specialty, and it is treated in a non-standard way.

yeah. i have now formatted the ssd and now installed windows 8 on the hdd. so now how do i make the ssd a cache

Best to follow Prix's advice.

Probably in the Lenovo forum you will find other users the can direct you to the proprietary software used by the company for the SSD cache and proper implementation of the same.

That is not Lenovo proprietary solution. It has been present on desktops for few years already.

While I don't exactly know how to use it, it appears that all you need to do is install Intel drivers and configure them.
I had one desktop in my hands with a 32GB SSD and it was just unpartitioned space as far as I could see. I didn't do much with it as I replaced the original hdd with a 512GB SSD anyways. -

It doesn't appear with this laptop they are using a proprietary driver but just this quick once over may be wrong. This is why we direct you to the lenovo forum. Most systems use a proprietary driver/software for their iSSD.
