    hello all

I wanted to know if there was anyway to rename files something longer?

I have a group of video files (.avi's) that seem to have a pretty small limit on file name length? is there anyway around this or do certain files have a length limit?

jpeg's for example have a much longer limit that these files do?

and it seems the limit is based on how long the original file was

    any thoughts would be appreciated.

solved my own problem, I guess it was a limitation due to being on an external harddrive, it is an external that is in FAT32 as it is meant to share from pc to mac so I am guessing that is why there was a limitation.

moved the fiels back to the computer and I can renamge them how i wish.

ahh just as a side note, I am guessing that is a limitation of FAT32, which is what the HDD is formatted as because I am sharing files between MAC and PC

I can easily rename the files when they are on my computer as long as I want and then put them back on the HDD with the new longer name, what a pain but not that tough of a solution.

maybe it can help someone else :p

I wish there was a HDD format that was updated and worked perfectly with PC and MAC :( come on now.
