normally windows (at least in xp) displays files as thumbnails or as tiles. I prefer to view them as a list, but I get tired of setting each folder as view by list. anyway to make windows set list as the default view? I would imagine they'd be under folder options but I don't see such an option there

what if you switch to the list view in the root and then go and apply the folder settings to all folders? in tools - folder options - 2nd tab (View i guess; sorry i have a different language version here)

And then sit back and watch as Vista or XP, over time, totally forgets the settings you have applied. The bug of Windows not remembering this has been around far too long. None of the "fixes" brandished about, are truly fixes. They are just band aids that eventually fall off.

If want to make it remember - try the tips on this page - I used the download version - keeps my explorer folders the same size every time I open them and in the details view.

But as Gary mentioned, they will wear off - do at my work computer more rapidly than home one. -

That is one of the best pages I have seen yet on the topic. It pulls together all the differnet bits and pieces spread out all over the place. I was glad to see the red section highlighted near the top, that indicated that even with the fixes applied, the issue may return.
I hope this has FINALLY been put to rest when Win 7 hits the streets.
Any of the Win7 beta testers (authorized or otherwise) know if there is a Win7 fix for this?
