I don't suggest using tools like DriverMax because they tend to miss some essential files/registry entries. In my experience, DriverMax did not work properly for me. I suggest that you spend the time downloading all the drivers you need. Store them on a CD or flash drive. That way, you don't need to download them again. Make it a habit to check for new drivers maybe once every 2 months and download/install the new drivers. This will save you a lot of hassle in the long run. :)

By the way, Google is not your friend. Google is my friend and only my friend. Stay away!

    Another obvious source of drivers:
    The manufacturers webpage.
Either the manufacturer of the laptop or alternatiely of the device.

The laptop manufacturer tends to have all drivers available, although not necessarily the latest version.

maybe there's even some "drivers" folder on c:\ or d:\, where all the stuff the manufacturer installed manually is. just copy that out, then, and reuse.

i happily always get a disk with those on my systems *puh*. still downloading the newest from manufacturer is a good start, too. all you need is the network-drivers. without those, you don't get far :)

newest from manufacturer... do you mean the laptop manufacturer or the hardware manufacturer?

I managed to upgrade the display drivers on my Sony using an Intel driver - only had to unistal the Sony one first - I got a message "Not intended for my device" otherwise...
