    how to turn off laptop monitor while external monitor is connected

    i only want to use the external monitor, how do i do it?

    You could try holding the Fn key down and pressing the F key on the top row of the keyboard usually F5 , F6 area "depend on notebook" with what looks like two screens side by side, press it a couple of times and the display should change.

    I can just close my lid, and it doesn't even show my laptop display in the config panel anymore and only outputs to external devices.... Then when I open the lid it comes right back to the laptop screen. If you're running an external display via HDMI I find it doesn't scale my display if I close my lid, but while the lid is open and the display is turned off it scales and looks like a water-painting on a 42" plasma.
