This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    have anyone tried this??
    i live in lebanon , really really far , but i have a friend in france who's coming soon so i am thinkin that i should make and order to france or something , i checked the website and i must enter a code to place an order , this code starts with 2 numbers , so it's not the one written on the back of my laptop .....
    so did anyone tried this free upgrade to windows 7 ??? what does it take to do it??

    "free upgrades" are only offered by OEMs to the best of my knowledge - if you have an eligible laptop contact your OEM.

    If you need to buy an update then either use a trusted merchnt/site (e.g. Amazon) or your friend in France.

    Hmm, looking at the site... it looks like an MS site...
    Still, your OEM is responsible for free upgrades.

    The page clearly states (also here) that you need to have purchased the computer/laptop on or after june 26 2009 and you need to have one of the forms as in the picture below.
    The form should have been given to you by the reseller when you bought your notebook.
