Try another account.
-
wont loose all my stuff installed on my vince account if i make a new one then delete vince ?? i have roughly half of my 320 gigs filled and cant loose my gcse coursework either
-
Don't Delete your account, just try and make another administrator account, and see if task manager works.
-
it works on geust account so its not an error in task manager right?
-
Ok, well if it works on the guest account, then it's your current account that is corrupted, so you could just create a new account called 'Temp' or something, and then delete your account from there, choosing to save your files when you get that option. They will be saved to your new desktop. Then, you should restart. After that, create a new account called 'vince,' just like your old one (the reason you restarted was so that the remaining vince folders would not conflict with the new ones) and copy your data over to that account.

ok thanks but how would i go about moving the files to my NEW vince account im fine with the first few steps
-
Go to run > type taskmgr.exe
I just make a shortcut of this on my desktop and start menu
edit: oh nvm didnt read it all -
-
ok 1 last question will this un install my games or photoshop because it takes soo long to re install everything if not then thank you very much
-
no it doesnt, everything stays the same except for your personal documents/files/music/pics which was saved in the My documents folder
-
This is why I have zero personal stuff in the default folder; I keep all mine in a separate folder in the root. That way I can switch accounts or whatever without worrying about what M$ will do with my documents folder.

I like to seperate the OS from my crap -

I'm a bit late, but for future reference, I think whatever attacked your computer just changed a registry entry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\ System\DisableTaskMgr]
Should always be set to 0, otherwise task manager will not work -
Open and Download WinBubble > go to Security Tab > Choose the option to enable the Task Manager > Click the Apply Button. Here:
How to Enable/Disable Task Manager option in Windows Vista
