wow so i have never been a fan of internet explorer to much. I always stuck to firefox. I tried IE8 and its really fast and actually blocks more viruses then firefox. I think firefox needs to launch an firefox x64 edition and there would be no comptetion. Now with IE8 being so fast with supporting x64 i think i may stick with it for now. i have tried the unnoffical x64 edition of firefox but it has to many bugs and no flash support

IE user since I was 14, I will never switch. IE8 64 bit FTW
-
well depends what site u search u wont get viruses
..........well its all about user opinion in this matter i happen to use the 64 bit and firefox i think both are coming together nicely due to the fact that they are being used most commonly now most of my friends use firefox and IE8 x 64 i gotta say though Microsoft is doing a very good job now with IE8 lighter on resources, better security, faster load times, good lay out,and best of all free........IMO

Thing is... there still is no 64-bit Flash.
-
and don't forget, u dont need any plugins to run IE, everything works out of the box! unlike the POS firefox .....
-
I think theres a 64-bit version of FF called Minefield, never looked much into it though, don't think it's officially supported. I'd make the switch too, but alas no 64-bit flash yet, so I'll stick with IE8 x86 for now.

IE 6 had addon since 2002 i think. Every other later versions had addon page.
E.g. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/downloads/addon/rm.mspx -

Majority of the people didn't even know there's such things as plugins until Firefox promoted it.
