Any webcam will do picture and video. You just need the right program. If your using it to video chat, it should just automatically work.

    Hey aereal 78.

I've read on many other forums that the Acer Aspire One really does not have a proprietary or pre-installed software for use with its built-in webcam (for reasons which I am not aware of). Usually netbooks already have pre-installed webcam software, but Acer doesn't include one.

However, if your Aspire One is running on Windows XP, you can opt to download the following freeware webcam softwares which I've linked:

    1. Yawcam
    2. ManyCam

I personally have not tried these (as my Dell has its own webcam software), but according to other forums, they are quite useful for the purposes you want to use your webcam for...

Good luck on your search for a webcam software...

if you use Media Player Classic then u can do the same too but it might have high video effects but does the job just fine.
