    but can't.

i know nothing about this process.
    i don't know if i need to install windows 7 7000 before i install 7077 or if i can just install 7077.
i know zero and haven't found anything on the internet that is remotely helpful (aka links to legitimate isos)

anyhow, if anyone could provide me with some concrete answers (and LINKS THAT WORK!), i'd really appreciate it.

i've downloaded and mounted several different 7000 and 7077 files but all of them say the same thing.. autorun.dll not found.. error 0x7E.. file is corrupt.

i'd really appreciate someones help. i really want to try windows 7 but no luck. im on a new msi gt725 btw.

    i'm running vista32 btw.

I would like to fly a 747, but I know nothing about the process.

I don't know if I need to learn anything first but I think I will pick it up quickly.

If it matters, I currently fly a (small) ultralight so if you could tell me about the 747 in those terms I would greatly appreciate it.

The engine in my ultralight is a Honda 25 Hp model.

You can use 7077. Do clean install. Don't "mount" the discs, that won't work. Burn to DVD and boot from it.

Dual boot your comp. Don't just go into W7 alone. Shrink your Vista volume first, leaving 20 GB for W7 and install W7 via DVD as the previous poster stated.

    cheers ...

You can use 7077 straight away, no need to use other versions first. Try burning it as stated, if it still doesn't work, then the copy you have is corrupt.

It can be mounted, but with mixed results, I mounted 7000 when it first came out but once installed it went wrong big time. Then installed via disc and it worked no problems. What program are you using to mount it??

The actual installation process is pretty much plain sailing. Once the setup starts, there's not much for you to do really.

One other thing. What copy are you trying to install. 64bit or 32bit???

If your trying to install a 64bit version from within 32bit vista, it won't work, you have to install from disc.

If he's trying to "mount" a windows disc and install it, and based on the other questions on a clean install, I think shrinking volumes and dual booting is probably too complicated.......

where'd u get that idea from? i have installed windows 7 around 5 or 6 times on different comps and have only installed it by mounting it with magicdisc.....
try mounting it first so you dont waste a disk and it in my experience installs faster since data is being copied from your hd which is much faster than a disc
if mounting doesnt work for you you probably have a corrupted iso file... which can be tested by buring it to a disk

    worked!

just mounted it w/ magic iso and installed.
thanks for all the help. even the mocking is appreciated!

i just need to figure out how to put my last 1gb of ram to use (using vista32.. and to figure out which graphics drivers will be compatible w/ windows 7.

does anyone know which ati catalyst drivers work w/ windows 7 & w/ my hd4850? i heard 9.2? 9.3? 9.4? are any of these stable w/ windows 7?

or should i stick w/ the msi graphics drivers?

    thanks though.
the windows 7 taskbar is really great.

You mean you have 4GB of RAM on your laptop? You can't get your computer to make use of more than ~3.25GB. Period

Unless some magic trick popped up in the last year while I wasn't checking news.

you could perhaps create a ramdisk to utilise the wasted ram... but apart from that the only thing you can do to use the full 4gb is upgrade to x64
