I love the program i8kfangui. I know it has significantly lengthened the lifespan of my 1330 by allowing me to max out my fan speeds at all times, since a design error causes the graphics card to reach ridiculous temps under any sort of stress.
However, I am unable to run it while playing my favorite game (darkfall online, a small indie MMO). Reason being: if I have fan control on, I get very intense graphics lag that makes the game unplayable. Things slow down or stop then go into fast-forward to catch up. Spell effects/icons will not show up when I cast them until AFTER I cast another one (regardless of how long I wait to do so). It resembles ping spikes but my ping remains constant, and these problems disappear as soon as I set i8kfangui to only monitor temps.
I'm at the end of my rope here: other fan control programs don't work, and I've tried different BIOS/drivers w/no luck so far. Is anyone aware of anyone ever having similar problems? Are there known incompatibilities between certain games, graphics cards, processors etc. and i8kfangui? The issues seem so unrelated but the cause/effect is undeniable.
Laptop: XPS M1330 w/Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 @2.4ghz
BIOS: A12 (flashed from A15 in an attempt to fix the problem)
OS: Vista Home Edition
Graphics card: Geforce 8400m GS driver revision 270.61
If any more information is needed or anyone has any leads I would greatly appreciate the help.
