Got a new HP dv9500t. My old system with iTunes on it crashed. Everything (music, video, playlists, podcasts, etc.) is still on my iPod but wiped from my old computer. Need to move all my music and video on my iPod to iTunes on my new dv9500t or it's gone.

What is the best software to purchase for the task?

    Thanks!

    try this one..

as I recall the trial version allows you to copy over a set number of tracks so you could see if it's what you're after before buying.. I've used an earlier version and it worked well.

I think that effectively copies and pastes your iTunes folder using your iPod as a harddrive I don't think you'd be able to retrieve the music stored within the ipods own file structure that way as that can't be seen by Windows. As I understand it rhetor can't access the old iTunes folder on the computer due to a system crash so the only source is the iPod.

No can do . . . step one is "Open iTunes on your old computer!"

No old computer to do that with . . . files are gone.

I am looking for the best third party software.

    I have 1500 songs and about 40 videos . . .

Sharepod looks good, except my iPod is not set to manage manually . . . to use Sharepod , I would have to sync with iTunes first and will lose all the stuff from the iPod.

I am looking for software that will transfer everything from the existing iPod to a new copy of iTunes . . . alot will be lost.

I think the ipodcopy link might do the trick then ( http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/ipodcopy/index.html)

    or there's Copytrans (formerly CopyPod)
    http://www.copytrans.net/

this would do the job also, to quote from their website "CopyTrans is a lifesaver when sending your iPod for repair, in cases of computer/hard drive crash, or just to backup up to a different drive."

I chucked the install file on my iPod HD, so if I'm somewhere and someone wants something from my library all I need is the right cable.
