Well, i always have problem with iTune losing album art or not finding the mp3 files whenever I do an OS reinstallation, and this time is no exception.
Please tell me what I do wrong here. I copied the vista music album to an external HD, then I proceeded to install win 7 and iTune. iTune magically got all the album arts back (without me doing much) but when I click the albums, it shows 3 copies of each song but really only one of them exists on my HD. So now...what do I do?
My itune library location: C:\Users\Rage\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music
My MP3 location: C:\Users\Rage\Music
Help please?

Why don't you take all your music, put it in the iTunes location, and then copy it and back it up to your external harddrive. IF you try playing the songs, 2 of 3 will likely say "Cannot be found" Just delete all those and you should be good.

i second the above suggestion

Ok I follow the suggestion. it was much better, although a few album arts were still missed.
I don't know if this is Win 7 or iTune related but I get the "file name is too long, can't tranfer it" message. Mmm, I've never seen this in Vista, so I am guessing this is a Win 7 issue? -

Are all of you using Windows 7 64 bit edition?
There are known compatibility issues in Windows7 RC that prevent iTunes from working correctly. If you're using Windows 7 64 bit iTunes will automatically install the 32bit-version. This prevents synchronization between iTunes and iPhones, and may also be the cause for your problems. Have you tried running iTunes in Vista compatibility mode? -
I use 32bit Win 7 version.
Another annoyance is that the iTune recognized the Win 7 as a new computer and asked to be authorized. So now I've used 3 out of 5 authorizations on the same laptop! Btw, it lost all the downloaded applications...dunno why, I thought it was supposed to transfer from iphone to itune.
