Fantastic, thanks for the link. I just updated my version and it has fixed many issues.

    Here is what was happening...
With iTunes 6, I never had any problems getting my iPod Nano (my old 4GB 1st gen) to update. Once I installed iTunes 7, it would not update. I bought a new 8GB 2nd gen Nano right after they came out and that would not update either. I finally figured out that the issues was my sound card - I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS installed - there must have been some sort of conflict because while Windows could see the iPod fine, iTunes couldn't. If I wanted to update my iPod, I needed to restart the system without the sound card plugged in. I also found it impossible to update the Nano's software - iTunes would freeze no matter what.
This update fixed the updating issue, and I was also able to update the Nano's software.

well it really is just a patch when you think about it, it is just updating what isn't there.

    complaining about nothing.

Well, I don't really mind. Installing and patching-up takes about the same (except installing a BIT longer).

I think Apple doesn't release patches because they don't want to look like Microsoft.

That, and they don't have to provide two separate downloads. When you download iTunes, you get the latest version and you don't have to worry about immediately upgrading.
