The only way the media buttons my laptop can control my music is if iTunes is the selected window. I find it annoying to have to constantly focus on the iTunes window to move to the next song using my media buttons. I did not have this problem when I used Windows Media Player 11. Is there any way to fix this issue?

Also, is there a way to get iTunes to show up in the taskbar like WMP11 does when minimized? I'm not talking about a little icon in the tasbar; I'm talking about a little player in the taskbar.

Well I don't have a direct solution to this. However if you use Firefox install the plugin called Foxytunes. You can control your library while still using firefox.

Yes, there is a way to minimize it. Right click the Start Bar, go to Toolbars, then choose iTunes. There you go!

    Nice! I didn't see that!

However, it doesn't solve my issue and it isn't nearly as nice as the WMP11 one. Firstly, my media buttons still can't control the music. Secondly, it turns my taskbar grey and it no longer has that transparent effect that comes with Windows Vista Aero.

Thanks for the try though. It's the closest I've come so far. If only it was more similar to the WMP11 taskbar player.

I found something called Multi-Plugin and supposedly it fixes my issue. However, the latest version of this program is over a year old and when I try to install it, I am warned that my version of iTunes is not compatible with it.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that finds this annoying.

Anybody have a solution for me? Note that I am using Windows Vista and iTunes 7.5.
