I am trying to re-install my Itunes 7.0.2. The installation appears to go fine but when i click on the icon to enter Itunes, i get a windows error that says "Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". Then asks to send error report. I have tryed to uninstall and re-install several times. Run CCleaner after each uninstall. I had to re format my HDD but, I know Itunes works on my comp because i had it about a week ago. Somehow it got deleted and i need to reinstall please help.

    Thanks in advance.

There are several things you can try:

    1. You may have malware on your computer causing problems. Download a good antivirus/malware/spyware program, install it, and scan your computer.

    2. Something could be "stuck" from a previous install of iTunes/Quicktime. Try these steps:

    a. Uninstall iTunes and Quicktime, but don't restart the computer after you are done.
    b. Delete the iTunes program files folder. Search the C: drive for "iTunes" and delete all of the files that are found.
    c. Follow the same steps for the Quicktime installation.
    d. Download and install iTunes. Make sure to disable your antivirus during the installation.

    3. Read this troubleshooting document provided by Apple to help isolate applications that may interfere during the startup process:

You could try uninstalling and downloading an older version of iTunes from filehippo. If this works, then just use the upgrade option to go back to 7.0.2. My guess is that something is wrong with your quicktime install though.

Have you recently upgraded to Vista? Last I checked, iTunes isn't compatible.

iTunes, or any of that Apple stuff is almost as hard to get rid of as a Virus or Trojan. AFAIK there isn't a third party app that automatically cleans their residue out. You really need a good registry cleaner to rid yourself of all traces of quicktime and iTunes before you can re-install it. I've used regcleaner, ccleaner and even regedit to clean up after a botched Apple install. If it's that hard to get rid of, ask yourself if it's really worth having in the first place...
