    Hello everyone,

This just started today, whenever I turn on iTunes, it automatically goes to my movies. And then, when I click on a movie to play, the images move, but there's no sound. When I open my music files, there's no sound either (the play bar doesn't move, so it's like always pausing at 0:00). In addition, Windows Media Player and VLC player can play all my movies, but there's no sound.
Youtube videos and windows system sounds are perfect.

Anyone know what I should do?

    Thanks

I would deauthorize the computer, remove iTunes, then reinstall iTunes and authorize the computer.

What version of iTunes are you using? Are you running Vista or XP? What were you doing yesterday that might have had an effect on iTunes? Did you install a codec pack or another application, or perhaps remove an application or a driver?

It sounds like a problem with the codecs the media players are using for your movies. Evidently you have the FLV codecs for YouTube videos, but not those that the media players use for your movie formats. Hmmmm.

    \\edit

You could try Googling and downloading ffdshow. Maybe if you run it and let it install its codecs in the registry, the movies will work, as I think the media players will access the codecs.

I fixed it. I went to control panel and opened Sounds. Then it told me that there's some sort of enhancement turned on and asked me if I want to turn it off. I said yes, and then everything worked again.

Oh yeah, I remember someone else had that problem before.
