I don't see why you wouldn't just install Ultimate then...I would.

ive never done a real comparison between them as far as resource usage.. thats one of my biggest concerns.. you think ultimate uses more resources at idle and while running than premium??

If I were you I would go for Ultimate. I would think that RAM use would be pretty similar with Home Premium and Ultimate. That is unless you run stuff like Vista Dream Scene and others that come with Ultimate. You can always turn these off to save memory usage.

I'd probably just stick with premium so that i don't have to turn off ultimates features just to get my ram back.

I'd go w/ Ultimate, I have run both. You have the auto file backup and a few other nice little features. I haven't noticed a lot of diff in memory usage.

if you don't notice the difference between ultimate and home premium, I would just stick to home premium then. more likely than not, you don't utilize the extra features of ultimate and won't need them. I have Ultimate and I turned off most of the features/programs I don't need to lower memory usage.

I'd go with the Ultimate since you have it already. It's a full featured program and no add-ons later on.

There's really no extra resource usage with ultimate as others have suggested. Ultimate allows you to access "Previous Versions", while premium does not. This feature alone is worth it, since you already have both. Premium keeps track of your previous versions, so it's using the same resources, but it doesn't let you access them.

Install Ultimate and all the false limitations also go away...along with the version monitoring...

Install Ultimate and turn off anything you don't need.
