    importing foreign language dictionary

    I used to run WinXP Pro with East Asian Language support installed. I'm bilingual in Japanese so this was quite useful. Over the years, I've added words and readings to the dictionary of the IME.

    I now have Win7 Ultimate (32bit) on my laptop and Win7 Ultimate (64bit) on a desktop. I would like to import the dictionary files from WinXP. What is the best way to do this? Can I just replace the .dic files (are the .dic files from WinXP compatible with .dic files from Win7?)?

    Just letting people know that I got a response on MS Win7 forums. The .dict files are interchangeable between the OS versions.

    That's right .dict files will also open on Windows 7 as IME dictionary is also available in Windows 7. You may copy the files on Windows 7.
