hi
i need clean install winxpsp2
but
i have no FDD
how i can install driver sata?
ynx for help
-
Should the service pack 2 disc have the sata driver? When I installed sp2 on my desktop, it saw my sata drive. I would suggest booting from cd (changing bios options) and seeing where that leads you.
-
all sata need a driver (your lucky - windows have driver for your sata controller).
-
i thought you only needed to install sata drivers if you were doing a raid configuration... i've installed windows on several sata machines without needing drivers..
-
for sata you need to the SP2 OS install otherwise the install hangs/crashes
-
hey people i install win!!! xp!!!! sp2!!!!!!!!!!
& on first step instalation ask me for driver!!! -
NO sata raid! just simple hdd on 80 gb
-
there is an EDIT button.
for an sata drive (whether you have one or not, i don't know), you need the SP2 version of XP otherwise the install will hang or crash.
please read the XP install message carefully. is it asking you for a driver or asking if you want to install a driver -
No, as maiden has said, SP2 is *not* always enough when installing Windows XP. You often (not always, but with many mobo's), still need a separate floppy with the SATA drivers.
But yeah, as drumfu said, it always asks *if* you want to install a driver. That's not the same as saying you have to install a driver.
But if you do need a Sata driver, and you don't have a floppy drive, you have to slipstream the driver onto your Windows install CD. -
the motherboard I used in a desktop I built for work had a BIOS option that allowed XP SP1 to be installed without any special drivers on a SATA drive.
